How does ranking work?
Purely by amount paid. The 4 highest active bids are shown, highest first — there's no fixed "spot #1," a claim's rank is just wherever its amount currently sorts.
What does it cost?
An empty spot starts at $1. Once all 4 are filled, overtaking the current lowest costs at least $1 more than what it's currently held for.
Can I get outbid the instant I pay?
No — every claim is protected for 60 minutes from the moment it's paid for. Nobody can touch it until that window passes, paid or not.
Do I need a LaunchNest listing?
No. Give a product name, website, and logo — nothing needs to be listed in the directory first.
What do I actually get?
A card in the homepage hero (seen by every visitor) with a genuine dofollow link to your site — and that link is yours permanently, not just for as long as you stay in the top 4. No listing, no badge, no waiting.
What happens when I get outbid?
You lose the hero placement — the card, the visibility, the spot itself — but your dofollow link doesn't go away: your listing moves into the permanent record below and keeps linking out from there. No refund on the bid itself, so only bid what you're fine risking on a placement that isn't guaranteed to last.
Can I bid on my own product to protect my spot?
Yes. There's no ownership check tying a spot to a specific person — you can raise your own bid the same way anyone else would overtake you, as soon as your hold window ends.
Can someone else put my product up without asking me?
Technically yes — like the rest of Outbid, there's no listing or ownership verification, so anyone can enter any product's name, URL, and logo. The email collected at checkout is only used for the payment receipt, not to verify who owns what.
Is my payment secure?
Checkout runs through Dodo Payments, the same processor LaunchNest uses for Featured and Spotlight. It's a one-time card charge — LaunchNest never sees or stores your card details.
Can I get a refund?
No — every bid is final. The only protection is the hold window: it guarantees your spot survives for a minimum stretch of time, not that it lasts forever or that you'll get your money back if you're later outbid.
Does this affect my LaunchNest listing or badge?
No. Outbid is entirely separate from the directory, from badge verification, and from Featured and Spotlight — winning or losing a spot here doesn't touch your listing status anywhere else on the site.
What if my payment fails or I close the checkout tab?
Nothing is charged and the board doesn't change. A claim only goes live once payment actually succeeds — an abandoned or failed checkout just expires without affecting anyone's spot.
